GENERAL COURSE OF IKK IKM 2020 BY Prof. Dr. dr. Bambang Sutrisna MD, MHSc, DrPH

Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta held another IKK-IKM Public Lecture. This public lecture presented speakers from Universitas Indonesia, Prof.Dr.dr. Bambang Sutrisna, MD, MHSc, DrPH, and open for all UPNVJ’s Faculty of Medicine academic community on Friday, 31 January 2020 at Bhinneka Tunggal Ika room, 4th floor, Jenderal Sudirman Building UPNVJ.

This public lecture is initiated by the  vice rector III, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ, MH, and coordinated by the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences (Departemen Ilmu Kesehatan Keluarga dan Ilmu Kesehatan Masyarakat / IKK – IKM) Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta as mentioned by the Dean of Faculty of UPN Veteran Jakarta, Dr. dr. Prijo Sidipratomo, Sp.Rad (K), MH during the opening remarks of the public lecture.

The public lecture explained the importance of the activists role in the public health field to educate the society reagarding the health issues in their environment. For instance, the importance of wearing mask in the right and proper way. There are several ways to use mask,  one of them is how to use mask during surgery:

• Tie the upper string and then the bottom string
• Pull the mask down to covers up to the chin
• To open the mask affter the surgery, first untie the bottom string and the upper string then let it go. This also applies on how to use N95 Respirator Mask, place the part with the wire above (nose) then push the wire to be adjusted with the nose’s curve.

The latest case regarding the public health is the outbreak of the N-2019 Corona Virus, the virus is found in the humn body and was first identified in Wuhan, China. In regards to the outbreaks of virus diseases, the Corona virus is one of global issues that needs the nivolvement of not only medical and  molecular biology but also experts in the economics, public health, and social. Death counts in the outbreaks of Corono virus is about 3% which is not as bad as the case of MERS and SARS outbreaks that reach 10% of the citizen counts.
